The entire Brighton High School hockey team. was skateless.
In bare feet with heads down, supported on two arms and a leg, the team members raised their other legs backward in the air and formed awkward looking tripods.
The only sounds in the high school's student activities room were deep-pitched moans.
"See if you can get those heels a little closer to the floor," said Cathy Owens, 50, a registered yoga teacher. "Say hello to your hamstrings."

:: Place at God’s feet your flowers of feeling
"The Baul mystics of Bengal always sing songs of love, full of reverence for the earth. They are deeply in love with life on earth and do not promise any imaginary heaven in the sky. They are the real people who sing real songs.
In one of the poems a Baul mystic sings: Commit yourself to the earth/ while on the earth, my heart/ If you wish to attain/ the unattainable man."

:: The Chakra System
The chakra system provides a theoretical base for fine-tuning our yoga practice to suit our unique personality and circumstances. Traditionally, Indians saw the body as containing seven main chakras, arranged vertically from the base of the spine to the top of the head. :: Lose Yourself In Meditation
Lose yourself in meditation. No matter what feeling arises, let it be. Do not fear. The inner energy is filled with infinite techniques, processes, and feelings. Its play is in everything. Therefore, everything belongs to it, and it is one with your Self.
The purpose of meditation is inner happiness, inner peace. It is fine to have visions, but they are not absolutely necessary. What is necessary is inner joy. When all the senses become quiet and you experience bliss, that is the attainment. The world is the embodiment of joy; joy lies everywhere. Find it and attain it. Instead of having negative thoughts, have the awareness, "I am pure; I am joy." Feel good about yourself; fill yourself with great divinity.
Meditate with this understanding: "Neither am I different from God, nor is God different from me." Then, not only will you attain God, but you yourself will become God.
Become quiet with the awareness that everything is you and you are everything.
Meditate on your Self. Honor your Self. Understand your Self. God dwells within you, as you.

Your own,

Swami Muktananda

:: Mike Pearson And Yoga?!
BRADENTON -- Mike Pearson admits he was a skeptic. Big, aggressive football players aren't much for anything they view as passive.

:: Kundalini Yoga And Huntington's Disease
Jean said she lost her job at an HMO in 1999 because her illness forced her to take time off from work. She was placed on long-term disability leave and eventually was laid off. In hindsight, Jean said, it was a blessing in disguise.
"I needed to focus on my health,” she said. "I was horribly fatigued. I would have half a good day, then two bad days. At that point, I was trying to figure out how to heal."
The answer was waiting for her in the stacks of books at the East Lyme Public Library, where she came across "Brain Longevity” by Dr. Dharma Singh Khalsa. That inspired her to try Kundalini yoga.
"It improves your stress level,” Jean said. “The symptoms diminish and you can hold them off for longer. You're able to have an outlet for your stress and you certainly have more stamina to get through the challenges."
