:: Inner peace, with yoga
Weiss himself is no novice, however.
Having practiced yoga for five years and taught it for the past two, Weiss, a senior majoring in critical studies, illustrates just how important yoga is in his life.
"Yoga keeps me sane," admits Weiss. "It adds another dimension to my life. No matter what I end up doing after I graduate, I will always do yoga."

:: Yoga puts children in touch
South Florida society is coming to view yoga as a meaningful -- not to mention cute -- activity for children as young as 2. Mothers are returning to yoga classes with newborns as soon as six weeks after delivery. And while such classes may lack the pin-drop om tranquility of classic adult yoga, they certainly hew as close to the true spirit of yoga as, say, your typical South Beach ''hot yoga'' sweat-a-thon.
''This is a gentle parenting space,'' Bonet announced at the start of a recent class at the Jim Ward Community Center in Plantation. ``So please don't force your child to do yoga. They will participate if they want to.''

:: Creativity :: A Creative Act Enhances The Beauty Of The World
Osho's vision of creativity is the quality that one brings to the activity he is doing and not necessarily become a painter, singer, or dancer to express his creativity. Osho says creativity is an attitude, an inner approach at how one look at things. Whatsoever one does, if he does it joyfully, lovingly and if his act of doing is not purely economical, then it is creative. If one can have something growing out of that act within himself, then it is spiritual, creative and divine.

:: The Yoga Connection
According to Erich Schiffmann, author and world-renowned yoga master, "Yoga is a way of moving into stillness in order to experience the truth of who you are." That part made no sense to me, and I had no interest in discovering who I was at this point in my life. So I was pretty surprised the day it happened.

:: Life Without Sex?
Some ancient texts insist celibacy is a must on the yogic path, but few modern practitioners opt for such an ascetic lifestyle. That raises a sticky question: Can we really have our sex and your yoga too?

:: Why Meditate?
Meditate, meditation, we hear these words every day... What are they in fact? What is their meaning? And, after all, Why meditate?
Meditation is a way of settling in oneself, at the innermost core of your being. Once you have found the center of your existence, you will have found both your roots and your wings.
The roots are in existence, making you a more integrated human being, an individual. And the wings are in the fragrance that is released by being in contact with existence. The fragrance consists of freedom, love, compassion, authenticity, sincerity, a sense of humor, and a tremendous feeling of blissfulness.

:: Insight from Injury
If the practice of hatha yoga was meant to heal, why are so many yogis getting hurt?
"Do more!" the producer urged as I stretched back from my kitchen sink into Ardha Uttanasana (Half Standing Forward Bend). An article I'd written about practicing yoga while cooking had attracted the attention of a national TV show, and now a camera crew crowded into my home to film me doing "Kitchen Yoga." But the simple postures I incorporate into my dinner preparation didn't seem impressive enough. So with a TV camera pointed at my face and hot lights nearly blinding me, I lifted one foot, grabbed my big toe, and extended my leg into Utthita Padangusthasana (Extended Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose)—and felt a sickening pop in my hamstring.

:: Vegetarianism...Tough Choice???
The increased popularity of yoga in America has carnivores caught in a dietary dilemma.
John, a longtime yoga practitioner, is a strict vegetarian who follows the ancient yogic dietary recommendations to the letter. Jane, a beginning student, likes her steak medium-rare. John feels that animal flesh is a product of violence. Jane contends that eating meat helps sustain her practice. Who's on the right track?
With the increased popularity of yoga in America (a carnivorous country by Mother India's standards), many practitioners have found themselves caught in a dietary dilemma: Can you still enjoy that chicken salad sandwich and call yourself a yogi?

:: Yoga Brings Owner Physical Well-Being
Yoga misconceptions range from visions of impossible pretzel postures to assumptions that one must be flexible to assume a posture for hours while meditating.
Not so, says Brenda Proudfoot of Three Rivers, owner and instructor of Porterville's only yoga studio at 49 N. Hockett St.

:: Drop Competition And Be Yourself
Sharing His insight Osho says,
“This competitiveness enters into our very bloodstream, so we become absolutely unaware of its always being there. Even in the name of searching for truth, there is competitiveness: who finds it first, who becomes the pioneer, the founder, the discoverer. Even in a field like humbleness -- which one would think is outside the area of competitiveness -- even there you will find the same spirit, the same competitive egoistic arrogance; then you are competing to be more humble than anybody else.”

:: Garudasana (Eagle Pose)
For Garudasana you need strength, flexibility, and endurance, but also unwavering concentration that actually calms the fluctuations (vrtti) of consciousness. This is true of all the yoga poses, but it’s a bit more obvious in pretzel-like Eagle.

:: Yoga bares its face at NT
Although registration was slow, around 21 participants attended the first in a six-week series of yoga classes NT was offering on Tuesday night.
There are many things yoga offers, according to Roberts, including stress relief and flexibility. There are physical and spiritual aspects she pointed out after the class.
"I was curious," Amy Goloby, Houston sophomore, said of attending Tuesday's yoga session. "It was very energizing and stretched my muscles."

Tarot is an ancient science, despite what all skeptics may say. Give it a try and see what comes up. The worst that can happen is to read some good thoughts and pointers for your life, for anyone's life in fact.

:: Into the Mystic
Still largely cloaked in mystery, ancient Tibetan yoga practices are slowly being introduced in the West, but teachers remain cautious about revealing their secrets.
While the Chinese occupation of Tibet has stirred the outrage of the world's spiritual community, it has also brought many of Tibet's religious secrets into the light of day. Tibetan spiritual masters have carried their knowledge and traditions to the West, capturing the imaginations of mystics, seekers, and scholars everywhere. In fact, stories that began to trickle out of Tibet in the first half of the twentieth century were no less than fantastic—yogis who could generate immense inner heat, enough to survive unclothed in the harsh and freezing Tibetan landscape, who could literally open the tops of their heads and transfer consciousness to another, and who could transport themselves effortlessly across vast distances at superhuman speed. <\i>
