:: Sweet Sedge - Part One
"Calamus was largely grown from time immemorial for its rhizomes in the East and the Indian rhizomes were imported extensively long after it was common in Europe. The Indian rhizome is said to have a stronger and more agreeable flavor than that obtained in Europe or the United States.
If the Calamus of the Bible is this plant, Exodus xxx. 23, Canticles iv. 14, and Ezekiei xxvii. 19, are the earliest records of its use. It is cultivated to a small extent in Hungary, Burma and Ceylon, and is common in gardens in India."

:: The Proper Relaxation
"When the body and the mind are constantly overworked, their natural efficiency to perform work diminishes. Modern social life, food, work and even the so-called entertainment, such as disco dancing, make it difficult for modern people to relax. Many have even forgotten that rest and relaxation are nature's way of recharging. Even while trying to rest, the average person expends a lot of physical and mental energy through tension. Much of the body's energy is wasted uselessly."

:: The Master and The Disciple
"The authentic, spiritual link between a spiritual master and a true disciple never had anything to do with the relation between a master and his slaves and does not imply that the disciples forever bow and be inert at the feet of their GURU, waiting without doing any personal effort that one day, the GURU should have mercy on them and give them the spiritual liberation for the simple reason that they served him their whole life."

:: The Proper Breathing
"Proper Breathing is one of the 5 fundamental points of Yoga as taught by Swami Vishnu-devananda founder/Guru of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers.
Most people use only a fraction of their lung capacity for breathing. They breathe shallowly, barely expanding the ribcage. Their shoulders are hunched, they have painful tension in the upper part of the back and neck, and they suffer from lack of oxygen. They should learn the full Yogic breathing."

:: What Are You?
You Are What You Think
"The physical body, along with the psychic is the servant of the mind. Just as the psychic, the physical body obeys the commands and operations of the mind, regardless of the fact that they may be conscious or unconscious."

:: The Proper Excercise
Among the 5 points of Yoga, the first is The Proper Excercise. See what it really means.
"There are numerous modern physical culture systems designed to develop the muscles through mechanical movements and exercises. As Yoga regards the body as a vehicle for the soul on its journey towards perfection, Yogic physical exercises are designed to develop not only the body. They also broaden the mental faculties and the spiritual capacities."

:: On Consecration
"Time devours everything except those who have attained immortality. We can say that the human being can approach God when he consecrates everything he does. The moment he offers the fruits of his actions to God, and God receives this gift, as a fruit which is not to be used by the one who does the action, but by God, in that moment, the being becomes close to God, to the Eternal, and lives, to a certain extent, in the same way as God does. In this moment the human being can feel the embrace of God as Father, and he can realise what it is like to embrace God."

:: My Way: The Way Of The White Clouds
"That's what Krishna says to Arjuna: Do whatsoever happens to you, whatsoever the situation demands, do it, and forget the doer. Don't think: I am doing; rather, think: God is doing through me. This is another way of saying the same thing: . I am just a NIMITTA -- an instrument, a passage, a vehicle. I am just a flute, hollow within, nothing substantial. God goes on singing and bringing new tunes, creating new songs, I am just a passage, a bamboo flute."

:: Karma Yoga
"In a state of detachment perform what has to be done, no matter what it is, and never wish to assume the fruits of your doings."

:: The Law of Synchronicity and Blessing
"Occasionally we feel inspired, such as when we are in "synchronicity", that is, in harmony, and experience significant coincidences. At other times we do not feel inspired, but rather experience turbulence and disharmony. In moments of synchronicity, everything is fluid; favourable people, actions, and objects appear at exactly the right time and place. This "coincidence" that seems to have come from the world beyond can suggest the existence of "miracles". This is true even for the smallest happenings, for example: meetings, telepathy – the so-called simple coincidences cascade, a succession of coincidences (at a superior level). For instance- a person is passing by a phone box, the phone rings, the person answers, the call is for her and the person who made the call dialled this number by mistake instead of the home number!
For many, these are only extraordinary chances of fate, merely "coincidences" or "miracles". In actual fact they illustrate profound resonance with the mysterious forces of God. It is only our ego that prevents us from being in a state of synchronicity all the time."

:: New Joy
"Thus began her ongoing exploration of what she called allegrezza, "the intelligent heart."

:: Svadhyaya
"When we use the yoga practice of svadhyaya — self-reflection — effectively, our actions become much more than a way to achieve something external; they become a mirror in which we can learn to see ourselves more deeply. If we are willing to look at behaviors, motivations, and strategies we habitually use to maintain our own self-image, we can use svadhyaya to pierce through the veil that this self-image creates and into the nature of our own essential being."

:: The Great Secret
" Most of the TANTRA YOGA metaphysics revolves around the concept of MAITHUNA . MAITHUNA is a frequent topic in all religious hindu sculpture and art. Missionaries, Occidentals and even some Hindus influenced by the preconceived ideas of occidental culture consider these works of art as pornographic and claim that sexual YOGA is a perverted and degraded form of Oriental spirituality."

:: Write Your Yoga
"Donna Wallace has been taking yoga for three years. She added journaling this year.
The combination of writing and yoga enables her to concentrate.
"It makes me peaceful, relaxed. It makes me aware, to access where I'm at, with my family, my career. Personal satisfaction is a lot of it. Everyone is multitasking," she said. "We're so rushed. It's hard to make people realize they can selfishly take 20 minutes and enjoy doing something for themselves, something healthy mentally, spiritually, physically, all at once."

:: What Are The Chakras? - Part Seven
The last of the seven energetic centers is Sahasrara, placed above the head crown.
In the oriental literature, it is known "the supreme center of contact with God". Sahasrara symbolizes detachment from illusion; an essential element in obtaining supramental consciousness of the truth that one is all and all is one

:: What Are The Chakras? - Part Six
"The sixth chakra, Ajna chakra, is located in the middle of the forehead, in between the brows. It also bears the names The Third Eye or Shiva's Eye and it represents the superior mental consciousness that favors the direct perception over the invisible worlds, and the direct perception of the subtle aspects of manifestation."
